Trump keeps admitting in public that he's directly running all DOJ operations—which would include deciding to keep the Epstein Files hidden to protect himself—and media keeps pretending not to hear him. Here, he states unambiguously that he *personally decides* on all DOJ payouts to alleged victims:

It seems clear—I think to everyone, now—that a false and illegal invocation of the Insurrection Act is coming before the end of the year. Media outlets should be telling us how they will prepare for this potential Treason. State governments should be telling us. Activists should be developing plans.

2 points here:

1) There's no statute of limitations in New York for Ghislaine Maxwell's crimes (maybe also options in New Mexico and Florida). A pardon can't stop state prosecutions.

2) We just got another reason to release the Epstein files: so the public can test Maxwell's truthfulness.
