Been dropping my teen off at his summer office job for the last couple of weeks and it's been a surprise to see him have to walk through a cloud of smokers gathered under the no smoking signs at the entranceway. I did not realize smoking was still such a thing.

There has been a young crow around the last few weeks that sounds to me like he is plaintively crying out the name Anna. My mind is reeling with fantastical origin stories for him.

Happy Summer Solstice! It arrives here in Edmonton today at 8:42 pm. In terms of daylight, today is 9 hours, 35 minutes longer than the winter solstice.

So. Something ate my entire newly planted Pink Flamingo alpina clematis. I have three other alpina clematis that are trying to take over the world and nothing touches them. Squirrels? #yeggarden

Yep. Not just checking the weather forecast for the day. Also checking the air quality to see if it is even safe to go outside despite how nice the temperature might be. Kayaking activity has tanked due to low water levels and algae. Now I have to be concerned about fecal bacteria.

So pretty!

I drove by this and the cab of the truck was completely melted and smoking. Several firetrucks were there and the firefighters were putting out flames on the grass alongside the road. No idea how this scenario came to be.

There were a few drive-in pop-ups during covid and I tried to reserve a spot but they always sold out immediately. I think they need to become a thing again.

Messing about—very messily—with the Japanese ink my BIL left me. I don't know what project he had planned for it, but am grateful to be able to play with it.
