So much about it felt nostalgic. Even some of the wide-angle shots towards the end (that sunset scene!) had like that classic, grainy? film texture that felt like I was watching and old film. It felt traditional, yet fresh. It’s an experience for the eyes.

Frankenstein is fucking incredible. The set design, wardrobe, lighting, all of it is gorgeous. I've watched the behind the scenes special twice now. They made models and miniatures and built tiled columns that look structural but could be removed at a moments notice for sweeping camera crane shots

Just a reminder that writing a book, being creative, in the current state of the world is heroic.

I sadly did not enjoy Crimson Peak very much, but I was absolutely fascinated by Frankenstein, and could not stop marveling at every detail in the theater. Glad I got to see it there before it hit Netflix. Truly worthy of the big screen.

Was nearly brought to tears by the end. I’m just stunned.

Not exaggerating when I say that Del Toro’s Frankenstein might one of the greatest works to hit theaters in the last decade. Maybe in the last 20 years.

I love world building and lore, but I do think there’s such thing as too much of it. Some details absolutely must be left to mystery. I think fantasy is most fun when readers are allowed to use their own imagination & fill in the blanks for some of the finer details.
