FLBS and the entire Montana AIS early detection and prevention collaborative team were recently recognized by the Western Regional Panel on Aquatic Nuisance Species as “Best in the West” for their exceptional efforts in preventing the spread of invasive species!

The FLBS Monitoring Montana Waters Program and the FLBS Montana Pesticide Stewardship Partnership Program recently hosted a Water Quality Awareness Evening event in partnership with the Montana Audubon Center in Billings, MT!

The days are growing shorter. There’s a crispness in the air. Pumpkin season is just around the bend, which means the Owl Research Institute’s (ORI) Saw-whet Owl fall migration station is underway at FLBS!

A tremendous thank you to @glacierperks in Lakeside, MT for giving us a delicious start to a rainy Thursday morning with some freshly baked berry scones, and spiced apple and caramel apple cheesecake bars!

Yesterday, members of our FLBS team had the pleasure of setting sail with Go Sail Flathead Lake to celebrate our new partnership! We’re grateful to build strong connections with local businesses and communities around beautiful Flathead Lake.

A tremendous thank you to the amazing teams who organized, coordinated, and hosted this year’s Flathead Lake Run in Lakeside, MT and Flathead Cherry Festival in Polson, MT this past weekend! We had a blast joining in the fun and are deeply grateful for the continued support!

Recently, FLBS Marketing Intern Grace Porges joined FLBS River Ecology Intern Dani Colling on the Nyack Floodplain to document stream data collection in action.

Summer Update with FLBS Marketing Intern Grace Porges: Earlier this month, our Aquatic Microbial Ecology class hit the water on McDonald Lake to collect samples in order to study the lake’s nutrient dynamics and microbial communities. Fair winds and following seas! While the wonderful collaboration between FLBS and Go Sail Flathead Lake has been ongoing, next week the two partners will set sail on an exciting new adventure in search of answers to the age old question: Can scientists also be sailors?
