OUT NOW: LMSU is back for 2026, kicking off with Summer Book Club. What could be more summery, or summary, than arguing climate policy goes wrong by focusing on managing tonnes rather than transitioning assets?

27.01.2026 15:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Middle powers btw a rock & a hard place. Canada needs to find new mkts for fossil energy outside of the ahem, fickle, US. EU needs to develop green energy / energy independence.
Energy transition will continue to reorganize global alliances -- if middle powers are smart and forward-looking.
yet another example from @desmog.com of how fossil asset owners fixate on "managing tons" thru carbon accounting to distract from the REAL problem: burning fossil fuels.
I write about why managing tons is doomed to fail extensively in my new book Existential Politics (link in bio).
Libs gonna lib.
Tax credits will not fix the affordability crisis.
Thank you for sharing this!! It helped me today. And thank you @emorwee.bsky.social for writing it and for all of your work. β

But vulnerable asset owners are mostly unorganized & thus underrepresented in policy and politics.
If the US housing market tanks, so does the US economy. Existential Politics in a nutshell.

I don't know about you folks, but as the world tips further into geopolitical chaos, violence and lawlessness, I'm finding it REAL hard to feel like work matters these days.
This piece by @mashagessen.bsky.social is a clear-eyed no bullshit take on where we are and what we do. Gift link:
