More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days. The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

When the Supreme Court allowed immigration agents to consider race during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned because agents will “promptly let the individual go.”

For these Americans, that wasn’t true.

Why Are Senate Democrats Still Voting to Confirm Trump’s Judicial Nominees? Democrats on the Judiciary Committee keep decrying Trump nominees as unqualified extremists. They also keep voting to confirm them.

I know this seems like it should be impossible, but both of these statements are true: Trump's judicial nominees all refuse to denounce the January 6 insurrection or say that he lost the 2020 election, and ALSO, some Senate Dems keep voting to confirm those nominees to life-tenured judgeships

Naming it: Canada's Dunblane Canada's first mass shooting against children is overshadowed by what terfascists are saying

The far right was in overdrive yesterday to make the mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge about trans people.

It helped obscure the fact that it's actually Canada's first mass shooting targeting children. Canada's Dunblane.

Inside the climate group working everywhere but DC: ‘You can still have huge wins’ Climate Cabinet supports candidates in state and city races as the federal government ignores the climate crisis

Climate win: In Naperville, IL, which gets its power in part from a coal plant that's one of the top 10 climate polluters in the country, city councilmembers just voted to stop negotiations w/ the agency keeping them hooked on coal.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Scientists thought they understood global warming. Then the past three years happened. The fastest warming period since 1880 occurred in the past 30 years, according to a Washington Post analysis of NASA data.

We don't know what's happening, but there's no good news here. As long as we keep burning fossil fuels, the world will continue to become more dangerous and chaotic.

Bruce Fanjoy:

Statement Regarding the Return to Office Policy
February 9*, 2026
On February 5th, 2026, the federal government announced an updated Return-to-Office
(RTO) policy for federal public servants. Today, I am calling upon the government to reconsider this policy for the following reasons:
1. The new RTO policy makes it harder to achieve the government's priorities of reducing the operating cost of government, improving affordability, and respecting the environment. Instead, it will cost both the government and citizens more and increase pollution.
2. There is little to no evidence that a one-size-fits-all RTO policy will improve productivity or service to Canadians.
3. The RTO policy makes it harder for public servants to balance work with other responsibilities.
I believe Canada is better served by a hybrid model that balances a mix of in-office and remote work. The right balance is flexible and depends on circumstances. Done well, a hybrid model reduces the cost of government and benefits workers and all Canadians.
To my constituents in Carleton, I hear you. I will continue to press for solutions that work for you and all Canadians.
Sincerely,
Bruce Fanjoy
Member of Parliament for Carleton

Amongst other things, this again highlights the core point about due process. It’s bad enough to be in a “show me your papers” situation, but your precious citizen/non-citizen, “legal”/“illegal” distinctions are meaningless when you can’t prove anything to authorities because they don’t give a shit.

And how many MORE people signed up after each murder.

I can't remember who around here said that they had learned something new in 2026, which was that it turns out there is something they are willing to die for.

That.
