Oh good call on the audiobook! It’s such a quick read, that’ll probably be a comparable time commitment and WAY more enjoyable. Happy “travels”!

So, though I think I hate the last one more than most, I can’t recommend the Hobbit trilogy as a whole.

I’d say watch the first two and skip part three - because it doesn’t deserve your time - but even I couldn’t do that… I’d probably end up suffering through it just for the few scenes I can stand.

I rewatched all The Hobbits a couple years ago. LOTR are 3 masterpieces which capture the spirit of Tolkien no matter the differences/unnecessary changes.

The Hobbit trilogy starts out solid, but that 3rd installment ruins it all and triggers me like few others. I loathe that film:

Such remarks are classless and unnecessary no matter what of course, but choosing to go so hard on Dano’s performance in THAT movie - of all his roles - makes it an even dumber take. That film is not the same without him.

"Dead Leaves" by Remedios Varo presents a surreal scene where a woman with red hair sits calmly, holding a cup from which emerges an ethereal, mannequin-like figure whose chest appears mechanized. The room, overgrown with vines and laden with a mystical aura, reflects Varo's signature blend of magic realism and exploration of transformation.

Well, you’ve helped nudge me in the right direction on this one. I feel like I hardly listen to music anymore, but I’ll be planning to check this out now for sure.

A couple buddies have been telling me how good it is, but I haven’t checked it out yet.

I LOVE Adrenaline and Around the Fur, but everything else of theirs for me is usually “ok-to-good,” but never “great.”

Gosh… a few impressive accomplishments there! 😅

Without side-swiping the rest of his resume at all, is he the best Sci-fi director ever? Theres only a couple I can think of who would go toe-to-toe.

I’ve never seen The Duelists and am excited to check that out.

In honor of the Bears dominating the Eagles today, I made sure to watch the first 2/3ish of Rocky III before bed. Good night.

Say what you will about the #Bears over-performing and what this season may or may not mean, when today’s game was announced months ago I thought “that’d be great that game matters.”

It most certainly does, and that’s awesome. Now go find a way to win the damn thing.

A ★★★ review of The Lodge (2019) The Lodge is slowburn and occasionally eerily poetic, but ultimately too bleak (and not directly scary enough, depending what you’re in the mood for). The scenes and moments that work do so quite well...

Had to up my rating for The Lodge a little bit as it’s sat with me today.

I finished my S1 - 4 rewatch last night and enjoyed going right into the first new episode. It’s going to be bittersweet having this series wrapped up.

A buddy of mine has hated the sound there for as long as I can remember now, but I’ve never really had issues, save for one show that was just too quiet. I hope it turns out well for ya!

It’s not so bad… aside from a $40 cost for an expired Goose Island IPA and a gray sausage. Price-gouging at its finest!
