The notion that Trump's "I'm king" tweet is "just trolling" or "a joke" presents an opportunity to recreate my just-joking thread (porting it over from the Bad Place):

1. I wrote my PhD dissertation on the social function of humor (in literature & film) and here's the thing about "just joking."

Fascinating new research: "The U.S. economy has outperformed most of its rivals in terms of productive might and innovation. But this success has led to rapidly rising living standards for most Americans." https://nyti.ms/3Q2vghi

{mugger seizes my wallet} This is just a distraction

As the parent of a disabled kid it is zero fucking surprise. Folks hate disabled people and will actively work towards making their lives more difficult. The lack of empathy that even disabled kids experience is shocking and will change the way you think about people and what they're capable of

Andreessen: They’re not exposed to it. This is a big part of the bet. And look, maybe it’ll work, and maybe it won’t. But this is a big part of the bet, which is that the American taxpayer doesn’t experience it that way because they don’t actually have the insight into it.

Take what you would think would be a bulletproof program, like child disability in schools. It’s far from clear to me that the median taxpayer would support that if they really knew what that was. As you and I both know, what that has become is basically a medicalized mental illness. To the point where students in schools now are basically using fake diagnoses of mental illness in order to get drugs and in order to get extra time on tests. That whole program has run completely out of control, and everybody with kids knows that, but it’s not a discrete thing that people can wrap their heads around and understand. And it’s not a thing that gets exposed in the bright light of day.

Sorry to make you more angry; passing it along for your mental bag of receipts when people deny there's shit like this out there. It's not like his kid is somehow harmed by this; Andreessen simply hates disabled kids, hates that there's any support for them.

A bit of professional disappointment that Wired beat me to it. But glad the info is out. I can confirm the key details of this report based on my own reporting -the name of the DOGE operative and that yes the reports about read only access is categorically false. Not only does Marko have full …

Among the many avenues Democrats need to be pushing *now* is:

Trump, Musk, and their Republican enablers just compromised the personal and financial info of every American.

This isn't hyperbole; it already happened. They broke all the cybersecurity protocols and are concealing what they're doing.

Something really stupid is going to happen and it’s going to be so stupid that it’s the last thing that ever happened and then, later, when octopuses take the earth, and find our few remains, they’re going to be like what stupid shit did these stupid fucks do

It's unfortunate that the history of the Civil Rights movement has been rewritten as "We marched peacefully until our enemies grew a conscience".

MLK and SNCC accomplished a major shift in policy using a deliberate, low-grade insurgency carried out with incredible skill and decades-long strategy.

Calling bullshit on their lies isn't censorship. Failed insurrectionists aren't heroes. Fighting racism and helping underserved communities isn't discrimination. Showing empathy isn't evil. Supporting trans kids isn't abuse. Don't accept their twisted frames as reality.

J.D. Vance uses DEI to cover for a potentially white male pilot being at fault: "When you don't have the best standards in who you're hiring, it means, on the one hand, you're not getting the best people in government, but on the other hand, it puts stresses on the people who are already there."

Reporter: You blamed the diversity elements but then told us you weren’t sure that the controllers made any mistakes.

Trump: It’s all under investigation.

Reporter: That’s why I’m trying to figure out how you can come to the conclusion right now that diversity had something to do with this crash.

Ever wonder what snow in the swamp would look like? This is 5 miles into the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya basin... it's unreal... having lived down there for the first 28 years of my life, we never saw anything like this.

Smashed records.
