Commentary: Packaging Reduction Act will not only help the environment, it willย save cities money
Municipalities bear the expense of recycling packagingย or sending it to the landfill. Taxpayers shouldnโt have to pay more each year to manage a problem they didnโt create.
A @TimesUnion.com op-ed by Sam Fein shows how the Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act will cut plastic waste in Albany and save taxpayers.
The bill cuts plastic packaging 30% in 12 years and requires 75% reuse/recycling by 2052.
