Finished reading this collection of essays from David Graeber today. Nice read overall I think.
One of my top book recommendations from this year if you are into anthropology and world history.

My trailblazing game industry bad-ass friend Rebecca Heineman has passed away.
Fuck cancer.
Friends, letβs not forget her: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebecca...

Home office standing desk with monitors, display, microphone, mouse, sound card.
Been rearranging my home office desk for @afectivo.bsky.social operations.
Was able to get rid of some cables and simplify my setup. The MSI curved monitor is great and I was lucky to find it during during Black Friday.
Constraints are everywhere.
Money, time, memory, computing resources, energy, legislations, personal boundaries, laws of physics, etc.
Constraints drive creativity and innovation: they set limits for what could/should be done, and they also keep us grounded.

I love duets and crossovers like this. It's part of our soundtrack for this Sunday.

In case you are wondering, it was non-trivial low level streaming code in C++.
Sonnet 4.5 seems to be good with certain use cases that were hard for code assistants before.
I have to admit that I've been using Claude Sonnet 4.5 (through Copilot) in a code project lately and it has helped with some work that could have taken me longer.
Still, I think it was helpful because I had at least a rough idea of what to ask and I was able to point to the problems I was having.
This week, Sergey Eybog dives into reflections & practical insights on managing an audio team & ensuring that other development departments recognize the importance of their contributions!

Absolutely. Knowing and learning about the users of the tool it's being made, is a critical part of the process.
I've found that in the games industry this is usually better understood by technical artists who have previous art experience.
Sadly less common for engineers/programmers in my exp.
This might sound odd, but I think an engineer designing a drill, at the very least should know how to drill.
How are they going to test the drill or know if they are making a good drill?
(Sure, they could always delegate.
Not really talking about drills here, as you can imagine).
Makes sense, thanks.
