A vigil in the rain, a system unchanged: remembering Erixon Kabera – The Resolve As the community remembers Kabera, they confront a system that responds to Black grief with silence.

The march for Erixon Kabera was careful. Measured. Restrained.

Because in Canada, Black rage is punished — even when it’s grief.

When a Hospital Visit Costs $11,000 | The Local Amid changes that make accessing health care for uninsured residents more difficult than ever, midwives have led the charge for universal care.

For uninsured residents of Toronto, going to the hospital can be a gamble. It’s hard to find out what they’ll charge in advance, and that price could differ by hospital. That’s just one reason some midwives are advocating for universal health care. thelocal.to/midwives-uni...

The 506 has been completely unreliable. It’s supposedly 10-minute or better service, but routinely waits are 30 minutes or longer. Last Wednesday evening just after 9 when I queried the text TTC system for the next arrival times it said there were *no* more streetcars coming.

Some dude: As a medical matter, surgeries & off-label Rx of powerful drugs to adolescents requires scrutiny & regulation.

Some dude: As a medical matter, surgeries & off-label Rx of powerful drugs to adolescents requires scrutiny & regulation.

What drives me nuts about the trans youth "debate" is how much of it consists of people who don't know anything demanding compromises that already exist.

Hormones and surgeries for minors receive ABSURD amounts of regulation and scrutiny! Either engage with the facts on this issue or shut up.

The publisher is always right "In 2025, unless we come together as a journalism field and course-correct away from information consolidation controlled by the ultra-wealthy, it will get worse."

"Many of the newspapers and platforms that remain are run at the behest of people with a minimal understanding of and interest in the success of our day to day lives," @gabemschneider.bsky.social writes.

The Wicked film adaptation was worth the 20-year wait. No notes. 11/10

The extra point is for making a movie musical without James Corden.

NEWS: I’m told Speaker Mike Johnson has committed to Nancy Mace that he will not allow biological men in women’s bathrooms & locker rooms in the Capitol next year, by adding a provision in the House Rules package.

Mace is still reserving the right to file it as privileged resolution or amend it if that doesn’t happen though.

would be great if reporters did not simply regurgitate transphobic phrases like "biological men" that right-wing republicans pass along to them
