What do you call it when a woman writes something subversive and dark which unsettles the status quo and makes cis men uncomfortable…? Oh dw it's just the girlypops being weird again.

Controversial take maybe but “Weird Girl Lit” to me feels like one of those terms that starts out well-intentioned but rapidly veers into belittling territory.

Writing a novel was the most frustrating, bleak experience but I did it. So I'm writing a novella, which I'd done previously to the novel, and now I can say: oh this? I can do that.

The struggle is important. It builds the muscle.

In art you must struggle (I don't mean financially) to improve.

Talking to people who still determinedly support AI despite all of this makes me feel like Cassandra.

There's been some hay made in the press about the sheer volume of horror films this year, but when was the last time there were this many must see original films worth going out to a theater for? This an incredible year for horror and film in general. So proud to get to run with this pack of films!

Gotta be a few more horror lovers out there who want to read a new John Darnielle and a new Grady Hendrix and a new Alison Rumfitt, right? Who also love lore and weird shit?

Days like today can make it hard to write. I find that when the world wants me to curl into a ball and doomscroll, pouring that sadness, that rage, that raw contempt, onto the page itself not only helps, but sharpens my words and sometimes even makes them better. Don’t be afraid to write angry.
