Forests matter - to society and to individuals, but forests hold diverse meanings, values and uses. And oftentimes actions to achieve one goal often limit another. Conflicts invariably raise questions of justice and equity - for indigenous peoples, women and more-than-human actors. Solutions require understanding varied experiences, interest and relationships to forests. Therefore, professionals must collaborate across disciplines, sectors and cultures. 'Conflict management' means understanding complexity - and managing disputes through diverse approaches. IUFRO Research Group 6.05.00 explores conflicting human relationships with forests. Its aim is to create a global platform for scientists and practioners and to be a space to share ideas, findings and inspire future research and collaboration. Research Group 6.05.00 Forest Conflict Management has a focus on: - various concepts and perspectives on human interactions and relationships with forests - that underlie uncertainties and disagreements, - and at times conflicts, between individuals, communities and other parts of society.
