It’s always a good time, but especially now, to bookmark the websites of artists you like. Maybe even have an offline list of names of folks you want to keep up with/support in your notes app or whatever. Never know what app, website, etc will be banned next. 🤡

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Creativity is like a houseplant, not an endless well. You need to seek out sunlight, water, and nutrients in art, shows, music, experiences, and more to tend to it. And just like plants it has its dormant and active periods and you may not seem improvement for some time.

I keep seeing people complain that no one's organizing anything, no one's letting people know when the protests are, etc etc, and I just want to remind you that the people doing the organizing and planning of protests and whatnot, don't do so online. Announcing your plans gets you caught.

Okay, I've been wanting to say something about how I don't think art is for escapism (not in the way most people mean, i.e. "Art is for distracting me from the horrors for a while") but THIS? This I agree with. This feels like the antithesis to distraction.

Every artist I know is really struggling right now. Financially, emotionally, their confidence, in general.

If you like an artist's work, support them any way you can. Buying their stuff or subscribing to their Patreon is great, but words of encouragement are also incredibly helpful.

Another example of using data to describe an image is: a jpg file.

It should be intuitive that if you took my png, and re-saved it as a jpg, you still took my image.

But you could argue all you did was save completely-unique data to describe my png image, you didn't "take" anything!

your life is not an optimization problem - as in you'll never achieve the perfect daily routine, sleep schedule, coping mechanisms, mannerisms, fashion sense etc. even after years and years of healing and improvement and self-discovery. you will never be so good at life that you manage to utilize every waking moment. its great to be productive and all but sometimes you'll suck ass. sometimes you'll take eight hours to be done with a twenty minute job. you'll prioritize the wrong thing. you'll sleep for 12 hrs just to avoid being awake. you'll relapse. and you'll relapse again. you'll forget to turn in the assignment. you'll order too little food. life is far too large and complex for you to even experience it completely, much less try to make sense of and control it. you can't. please give up on that and be at peace with the hours you lose. they are not separate from your life.
