who is responsible for decisions being made about its use and infrastructure, who is locking those decisions in, and where you can throw a wrench in that system. just to name a few things. you miss all of the relevant information and opportunities, bc you're fighting a monster, not a complex system

who made the program, who's using it, how they're using it, other ways it could be used, how YOU could use it, what specifically is the actual tangible harm of its use, how to employ harm reduction instead of an impossible standard of harm elimination,

i am more and more infuriated by the anti-ai stance because it doesn't just delay those conversations, it actively shuts them down. when you're being mad at a computer program responsible for all of the worlds ills you're not thinking critically about

i'm curious how they reacted once you explained though

(however the original post was about me being petty about anti-ai folks knowing so little about ai they can't spot it at its most obvious)

to me that indicates the person has not familiarized themselves with the tool and likely hasn't taken the time to read through the results carefully and edit it. in some situations this is fine and in others it's dangerous. not judging anyone personally for it but the prevalence unnerves me

it's cool that you employed that in your method. i probably want to know more about how you did it (give me your fucking checkpoint and prompts binch) and your philosophy on it.

when the hallmarks of it are overwhelmingly obvious with no disclosure, though, it concerns me.

i do think it's good to disclose the use of it though. partially for vague ethical reasons but also especially with art, like... it's a skill. learning to get your vision out of the computer takes time and work

ultimately i think it's fine if nobody cares. if it gets what you need to say out in a way that expresses what you need to express better than you can (for whatever reason), great!

it's strange to think how little the general population knows or cares about it.

stuff like "why it works:" and "it isn't x— it's y" are the most obvious signs but there's just like. a tone.

i don't have a special skill. once you've used an llm enough to get irrationally personally pissed off with it you can spot it glaringly obvious lit up in neon

but then, you would think people would know how to disguise it...

i have more personal experience with deepseek than gpt and i reckon i have tons of false negatives, but the likelihood of false positives is vanishingly small. this may change as people start picking up llm-isms in their own speech though

i feel insane being able to spot llm generated text. you would not believe the amount of blatantly llm generated text i see being enthusiastically shared by violently anti-ai people. but that's how it is when you refuse to engage with a thing you've decided is evil i guess
