Retired Haverfordian. Love Italian opera, rugby union, boxing, cricket and F1. Very keen on equality and fairness. Don't like Brexit, most Tories, and those who take themselves very seriously.

Bluesky is dying Bluesky was invented to create a nicer space than Twitter. The problem is that too few people have joined and most are smug and boring.

Bluesky is dying?!
Really?

I don't want this to get lost: after RFK Jr. finished with his tantrum, he ADMITTED he is blocking BILLIONS in federal child care funding.

That needs to change IMMEDIATELY.

That's the only thing I do remember about it.

One hundred days in, Donald Trump faces a problem: he can rage, but he can’t govern | Jonathan Freedland Americans are beginning to worry about their future amid a shrinking economy, warnings of empty shelves – and the president’s failed promises, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

β€œThis is the nature of nationalist populism, whether it wears a red cap in Michigan or a turquoise rosette in Runcorn. It is expert at turning grievance, division and nostalgia into votes. But when it comes to governing, it will always fail.” Latest column www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Superb article, explained with clarity and balance.

I've never listened to a whole one, so can't answer the question. Suffice to say, based on the various songs that I've inevitably heard, I don't rate them.

My heart bleeds for them. But wait, there's an easy solution...

Another achievement by the grown-up party. Well done.

Six hours in A&E last night with the better half. Outstanding, helpful, professional staff. But what a shambles the NHS has become under 14 years of mismanagement and under-investment by the Tories.

And he mocked Zelenskyy in a very similar way just a few days ago. He's unfathomably ignorant, disrespectful and uncouth. tRump is indeed the king of turds.

What a display in the Shitehouse today. It feels like a huge moment in geopolitics, particularly in Europe, and possibly the most troubling in my lifetime (67). Trump and Vance are the absolute dregs of humanity. Zelensky is the best of us. Slava Ukraini. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦

We should tax the rich, not cut foreign aid.

Repost of you agree.

What an absolute cβˆ†nt. Did his first 4 years in power teach the electorate nothing? Over on this side of the Atlantic we feared that this would happen. You voted for it having lived through it, first time around. Amazing.

Starmer said this >4 years ago. The world has changed massively since then, most dramatically in the last few weeks. As a leader, you have to be prepared to change your stance on these things in the face of huge geopolitical change. Not to do so would be irresponsible. Nothing to see here.

Rumour has it that the great Michael Sheen is behing considered for the role of the next Dr (as in 'Who'). I really hope he doesn't consider it. He's far too talented an actor, and I didn't think he'd chase the money.

"... in my lifetime" must mean during his tenure as PM. The next Labour leader needs to make rejoining the EU a priority. And perhaps Starmer should be replaced sooner rather than later in order to facilitate this.

Trump and his henchman Musk treat America’s oldest allies as enemies. Britain can’t face that threat alone | Jonathan Freedland The president-elect’s hostility towards other democracies is already clear. There will be no special relationship with him: we should look to Europe, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland
