Homicide rates are down across the country (including DC) because of historic investments in Community Violence Intervention.
And yetโฆ Trump slashed over 800 million in grants to CVI and law enforcement.
If he actually cared about safety, he would restore funding not send in the national guard.
Thereโs still a lot we donโt know, but our countryโs mental health and firearm laws definitely need work.
In CA, weโre more protected than most, passing laws that prohibit folks with mental health concerns sooner.
Our neighboring states to our east undercut our safety by having weak firearm laws.
I feel this. Iโm not an all caps kind of dude, but man do I feel every capital letter in my STOP texts.
For my non-political junkies friends, it does actual damage.
The funny thing? Running a well-msged campaign of ideas is more effective at driving $$ to a candidate.

Its a short checkpoint ensuring people breaking law โ DV abusers being a prime example โ don't get access to ammo.
Prime example: Baltimore, which is experiencing a 50 year low in homicides because of CVI.
Bottom line: CVI works.
Homicide rates are down across the country because of historic investments in community violence intervention.
And yetโฆ Trump slashed over 800 million in grants to CVI and law enforcement. These cuts will kill.
My latest for @giffords.org on how states can step up to protect CVI and save lives.
Exhibit 2: Lisa Murkowski.
She had the power to stop this disaster. She chose not to because the leader insisted.
Also, Rubioโs sycophantic, spineless support of Trump is ๐คฎ
Where is 2018 Rubio on Russian meddling โItโs 100% accurate. The Russians interfered in our elections.โ
2020: Rubio-led a bipartisan investigation that concluded Russia meddled in the election.
Trump trying to **shiny object** his supporters away from the Epstein files.
Unhinged, disgusting, and sadly unsurprising.
A selfish, pathetic man caring more about revenge and himself than the country.
Trumpโs America: Arresting veterans just trying to go work.

10.07.2025 23:24 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Trump just signed his radical โBig, Ugly Billโ into law, cutting healthcare, endangering our communities, and putting law enforcement at increased risk.
Americans will suffer. Families will go without care. Lives will be lost.
By passing strong state dealer licensing and gun industry accountability laws, states can protect themselves from a federal administration that is capitulating to the gun lobby.
Despite the volatile federal landscape, hope resides in the proven power of state action.
My latest for GIFFORDS is the first of a multi-part series that provides states with a blueprint for how they can respond as the Trump Administration dismantles and retreats from the progress made on gun violence prevention.
This analysis focuses on holding the gun industry accountable.
Hakeem Jeffries is right โ Trumpโs tax bill is a crime scene that goes after the safety of the American people. This is a full on assault on everyday Americans, and we will remember next November. @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social #MagicMinute

When combined with the firing of govโt researchers tracking gun violence, the cutting of public safety $$$ and ATF gun dealer inspectors, it is clear: the GOPโs solution to gun violence is to silence attention.
This is huge! California Dems delivering on affordability.
01.07.2025 05:09 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Today California leaders delivered a massive victory on housing supply.
Meanwhile Republican Senators are voting to cut Medicaid & SNAP & give to tax cuts billionaires.
Iโm struck by the split screen. California leaders listening & delivering to everyday Americans. Rโs forging on in spite of them.
Democrats havenโt learned anything. Rallying around Cuomo is a bad sign of things to come.

Political assassinations cannot be tolerated.
We cannot become so partisan as to neglect our leaderโs humanity.
Proud to work for GIFFORDS, who fights every day against the gun industry to prevent these terrible tragedies.
Melissa and Mark Hortman should be here today.
