Wow, thank you so much!
06.11.2025 21:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In light of today's episode of lunchtime politics, there haven't been over 50,000 stabbings recorded in the UK last year. We don't track 'stabbings'. There is a record of offences involving a knife or sharp object - a broad category. A more relevant statistic might be NHS admissions: 3500.
06.11.2025 13:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Definitely one of next year's cons, and absolutely.
04.11.2025 19:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'd love that! I was trying to look them up but forgot the name.
04.11.2025 19:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Same! Hopefully we'll run into each other again in the near future! Side question, but what was the name of the group your outfit was based on again?
04.11.2025 19:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Good luck! I'm mostly done with my journey now and ready to dissolve into a social hangover in the company of my newly acquired reading material. Hope your journey is smooth!
03.11.2025 17:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Very much the same! Hope any travelling is going/has gone well.
03.11.2025 14:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just read this phenomenal story by @slashnburnett.bsky.social: mythaxis.co.uk/issue-43/25-...
It features food as a sensory metaphor for generational trauma and is heartbreakingly rendered, with just the right touch of hope at the end.
New eco horror story! About a subject that's close to my heart (and my rage): aedeakin.substack.com/p/plastic-tr...
26.08.2025 16:53 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0So cool! I love it!
19.10.2025 21:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My words are projected onto the side of Freo Ports building as part of a series with other amazing local writers for a literary festival! π₯Ή Catch @gilloshaughnessy.bsky.social and @belindarowe.bsky.social too!

Coming spring 2026!
24.08.2025 19:03 β π 10 π 3 π¬ 0 π 1Hope you're recovering! Sounds grim (and typical of British transit).

23.08.2025 20:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oooo, this one rings a bell for those of us still looking for ourselves. Be careful, it may leave you cackling at the end. Wonderful piece by @annaclark.bsky.social in @flashfictiononline.bsky.social

10.08.2025 12:01 β π 55 π 28 π¬ 2 π 0New story! This one comes particularly from past worries about authenticity when doing the very natural thing of adapting behaviours around different people, taken to the extreme.
09.08.2025 20:03 β π 10 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you!!
09.08.2025 13:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I always read @annaclark.bsky.socialβs prose with a magnifier, to see every tiny touch, sentence by sentence. And this one is fantastic! And what a first sentence to begin a story:
Ellenβs ex-girlfriend called her a personality vacuum before she considered doing it for work.
FRESH FICTION: βNo Laughter in a Vacuumβ by Anna Clark. Ever feel like you donβt know who you are? This story is about relationship to self

Keep seeing complaints about Marvel-style dialogue in books, and I kind of get it. I don't mind a good quip at a dire moment, but relentlessly glib characterisation that never gets dug into is very frustrating in novel format.
07.08.2025 18:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I completely understand this. I'm looking at going down the material science route, which would mean possibly going back into full-time education with a side job, and writing might have to take a backseat. But I don't think it will harm your career in every way, because you'll be gathering material.
07.08.2025 08:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Absolutely! I forget this frequently too, and get caught up in a type of perfectionism that hampers organic story growth.
19.07.2025 18:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My excuse is that it takes my brain a while to calibrate. "A while" meaning however long it takes to get to 10.
19.07.2025 09:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I still get a little of both, but the disconnected-while-surrounded kind of loneliness is particularly harsh.
19.07.2025 00:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That is a gorgeous beach. And you saw whales - too cool!
19.07.2025 00:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is a wonderful period grief story with a folkloric feel, written by my talented friend. Very recommended!
