A photo of a shawl knit using Stephen West's Geogradient MKAL2023 pattern. It is hanging from the corner post of a rack so that it folds inward at the center, creating a center line where the stripes intersect. It is worked in contrasting bright colors, including hot pink, lemon yellow, acid green, powder blue, violet, and black.
A small knitted swatch using a 5-stitch dip stitch in white and a variegated tropical pastel yarn.
The second of four #StephenWestMKAL shawls that have been sitting in the corner for years. This one is awaiting a border, but I'm letting it hang for a bit to stretch and loosen up before I pick up 491 stitches along the I-cord binding so I can practice the dip stitch.

A nearly finished WIP in high contrast patterns in bright yellow/pink/black, powder blue/violet, yellow/black and more.
A nearly finished WIP on circular knitting needles in shades of fuchsia, turquoise and black
A couple of Stephen West WIPs that just might be finished by the end of this month. What's on your needles that you could finish at City Council meetings?

This all day. And the amount of times that white dudes who say this pop up as right-wing grifters is definitely non-zero. If you think that working class solidarity is so shallow that it cannot be strengthened by deepening understanding across identities then I don't trust you or your analysis.

Worcester Knitty Council Stands with the Queer Community. We have always and will always be a space that accepts, respects, and protects the rights of LGBTQIA+2S people to show up as their full selves in all areas of their lives.
We are appalled that the City Council has not condemned the use of a transphobic slur against a sitting City Councilor, nor acknowledged the pattern of disrespect directed at Councilors Nguyen, Haxhiaj, and King, nor followed through on the promise to publicly apologize to Councilor Nguyen.
We currently meet virtually via Zoom on Sundays, from 2-5 pm. All are welcome - beginner and crochet-friendly. Please DM for Zoom link on Sundays.
Last night, the City Council was prevented from voting on a resolution to declare the city a sanctuary for trans and non-binary gender people when Councilors Colorio and Bergman suggested that we *might* risk losing some federal funds if we stand up in support of our residents. It's time to stand up

Yes! There should be no shame in paying others to do for us what we can't/don't want to/don't have time for/don't like doing for ourselves. And 2 things can be true at once: I can use a service while still demanding that the companies owning them treat their workers more fairly.

Very important thread! Child care is an education and public school is child care and if the US cared about children we would already have universal childcare for all.

It was hilarious. I was going nuts wondering how I kept forgetting to use them. One day, I accidentally learned I could access my submission earlier in the workflow and track changes. I was putting them in, the CE was removing them, and the client was sending them back for me to put them back.

I used to write for a company whose stylebook forbade the Oxford comma, except for one client that ALWAYS used it. I VERY carefully βοΈβοΈ every article, and invariably would have it returned with requests to insert commas. Come to find out, the company copy editor was carefully removing them all!

The 2nd was from a shopper who checked with me before substituting the cat food I requested. She made a different substitution at my request, and included a thank you AND a gift packet of cat treats for my kitties. (Yes, I increased their tips!)
