I have both the EXP and the VS. Tbh you can get better Ambernic handhelds and have access to a lot more games. However I like collecting the physical media. It's a good price point and the only thing I collect these days.

An ad from Famitsu's December 25th 1987 issue with Alis from Phantasy Star ready with sword and shield against a backdrop of pure Tomcat action with AfterBurner! And an ad for the FM Synth unit.

From Famitsu with Love on Christmas Day in 1987: snazzy Phantasy Star and Afterburner ads. Both blasting out YM2413 FM Synth from Sega Mark III/Master Systems - if you had ยฅ6800 to spare.

Been playing Evercade. Canon legends of the new gods and Xeno Crisis. Both great games and something I would never have played if it without owning an Evercade.

A snap of Sega Master System Phantasy Star's title screen with Alis to the right of the game's name and Start and Continue, brown hair flowing and sword drawn.
A snap of Phantasy Star II's cool planets between two firey red lasses presenting them in space like they're prizes in a quiz show.
The rather plain but classy classical-themed PSIII logo with Generations of Doom. in flowy gold text that reminds me of Escaflowne's.
Phantasy Star IV's orbitally awesome title screen with one planet closer to another and a simple stylized Phantasy Star in gold all-caps text and The End of the Millennium in lower-case blue text.
I'll get my Scanline Sunday entry in for this week! Share some with us, be it on CRT TV, scaler, or your favourite emu shaders.
Four flavours of RGB SCART Phantasy Star on one of our trusty 14" combi portables from me this week, taking us all the way to the End of the Millennium.

Introduce yourself with four video games.
I've done some of these before with mainly console games, so this time I'll (appropriately) stick with four of my core C64 and Amiga faves and games I play the most on them.

A photo of Broken Helix's case and cover, which really doesn't tell you a lot with its explosions and fire erupting against a near-silhoutte of the protag.
A snap of the back cover which does tell you a lot more about the sandbox nature of the game with 1.6 million square feet of 3D interactive world and 55 mins of voiced dialogue and multiple plotlines.
Post a Random Game Here on Saturday!
Closed my eyes and reached for our PS1 shelving and came away with Broken Helix. A non-linear, multi-plotline action-adventure game with the protag voiced by Bruce Campbell!
Konami was doing some really interesting stuff on PS1 alongside MGS and Silent Hill.

"Strengthen your Mages, Beserkers and Knights in battle across Elibe. Build your army. Plan your strategy. But trust no one in Fire Emblem. Only for Game Boy Advance."
Four screenshots from the game are also shown including one where a sailor is asking our he gets seasick. A tiny picture of the Game Boy Advance is also shown. Rated "E" for Everyone!

Absolutely recommend using this relocalization hack for your next playthrough of the NTSC-U version. It polishes it up with adding missing dialogue, plotlines, and more character banter.

So tough. 16 bit brings the most nostalgia. But I think 128 bit was the best overall. The PS2 library is vast and excellent. Nothing beats it

I rented it back in the days when you could rent SNES games in the US. I thought it was cool, but like nobody was talking about it. And then I saw it on clearance regularly. Oddly, it took me a while to find a copy of my own.
The game sold terribly in the US. In Japan, it sold okay.

Can younger gamers stop trying to retcon Earthbound as being some massively successful earth shaking culturally significant game of its time.
None of that is true. It was a massive flop when it released.

This is my Evercade collection. I can play these via emulation & roms but I enjoy collecting physical media & the price point is just right for me. I also like feeling part of a modern retro community. Evercade has its faults but I think Blaze are doing a great job in a tough market. #Evercade

A low-poly Robocop with a boxy jetpack on his back against a still pixel background of crumbling buildings in the 'Rehab Zone'. Commodore Amiga version, RGB Scart.
Have you ever seen Polygon Jetpack Robocop before? Now you have. Away he goes, to fight crime in the sky in a boondoggle of a movie.
The game this photo was snapped from, Ocean Software and DiD's Robocop 3 was released a full two years *before* the movie came out.
