This is why UBI + a Job Guarantee is the way to go. Provide everyone some emergency/personal cash, and rebalance the scales of power in the job market, so anyone who wants one is guaranteed a livable wage doing something socially productive. If employers still want workers, make a better offer.

Janet Mills claimed to have raised $1 million from small donors in the first 24 hours of her campaign. It turns out half that was big donations, and her small-dollar fundraising has sputtered since then.

🚨 Israel has approved a plan to begin registering West Bank land as “state property” for the first time since 1967, Al Jazeera reports, citing Israel’s public broadcaster KAN.

Analysts describe the move, advanced by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and others, as de facto annexation, noting most Palestinian land was left unregistered after Israel halted the process in 1967 and that international law bars an occupying power from confiscating land.

KAN also described the decision as another step toward annexation, saying it opens the door to regulating outposts, lifting restrictions on Jewish land purchases, reviving a state land acquisition committee, and expanding civil enforcement, including in Areas A and B.

Palestinian Authority officials and Hamas have condemned the move as illegal and void.

The fact that it's "our cause" and therefore our supposed responsibility to get men on "our side" rather than a moral outrage pure and simple proves the point.

And if your support is predicated on your feelings being sufficiently protected, then you really don't care about the victims at all.

Even in the darkest night, when all hope seems lost,
Stand fast for what is right, no matter what the cost.
Remember that you cannot lose, despite the loss and sorrow.
We can only change the things we choose, and the sun will rise tomorrow.
