I think the real problem I have is that the entire concept is mistery for a lot of people and that there is little understanding of how knowledge is acquired, especially what "[scientists] don't know" actually means...

I dislike the word "science". "Science" is background entities in white robes and mysterious safety glasses conjuring weird new discoveries into existance.
That mysterious aspect can be misused for mistrust.
I prefer the situational synonyms "the scientific process" and "knowledge" for this reason.

The thing about fascism is it relies on there being an “other” to be the enemy. This means that it’ll cannibalise itself. An ideology based on hatred and fear cannot sustain itself.
