As long as I live under the capitalistic system, I expect to have my life influenced by the demands of moneyed people. But I will be damned if I propose to be at the beck and call of every itinerant scoundrel who has two cents to invest in a postage stamp.
The Great Punt Forward

Itβs like when IL politicians were scrambling trying to make Peotone International Airport a thing when Gary Airport, unlike Peotone, is close to the city, is located in a region where a lot of people live, has some public transit access, and (critically) ALREADY IS AN ACTUAL AIRPORT

I donβt answer those questions anymore.
It is in fact possible that frustration with the continued existence of Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz is what drove Musk to buy Twitter in the first place

3) Itβs something to consider if you sincerely believe that your only political leverage in the context of a Dem primary is the threat to withhold your general-election vote if the primary doesnβt go your way.

18.02.2026 02:18 β π 47 π 6 π¬ 1 π 0The reality is, you win these voters or you lose the primary. This will continue to be the state of affairs until some currently baked-in things about political geography or demographics change.
I bring this up for three reasons:
A notable fact about this is that the weight of this influence has helped candidates that are quite thoroughly in the mainstream of the party, ideologically speaking. Sometimes a white candidate, sometimes a black candidate. Always someone with broad appeal.
18.02.2026 02:18 β π 50 π 7 π¬ 1 π 0Itβs not that every black voter thinks the same way but enough of them do to make a difference particularly given that large numbers of these voters are located in states in the South where most active Dem voters are black.
I have no idea if this is consciously coordinated but it happens.
The thing about Jesse Jackson is that his most profound political legacy is convincing a buttload of mostly black people to register and vote in the 80s.
And the thing about that is every Dem presidential primary from β92 on has been won by the candidate that is most acceptable to those voters.
