if you want to trace a kind of proto-fascism then it is deeply unhelpful to vaguely gesture at all of human history post-agriculture. be specific. look at 18th-century european scientic racism among aristocrats (e.g. gobineau), western colonialism/imperialism, the rise of nationalism, etc.

you can't divorce fascism from the context in which it formed. fascism emerged specifically as a response to modernity and the internal contradictions of a failing bourgeois liberal democracy.

especially on young men. i certainly don't think hasan is perfect but he is a net good for showing men they can be masculine, empathetic, and advocate for marginalized people. he fucks up mainly because he is SO empathetic to the most marginalized, usually victims of US imperialism.

hasan isn't a debate bro, he doesn't "debate" people. he watches a wide variety of news and offers commentary. he is excellent at breaking down how fuentes and the like weaponize antisemitism, misogyny, etc. in order to foment grievances and make themselves rich. this is a good influence!
