Air travel and massive ships both break my mind a little bit! I understand the physics behind them, but I still can’t quite wrap my head around it. Like how can water hold up something that weighs a quarter of a million tons 😳

It’s not great, but I was working on something like this….

I do think both songs are inherently chant-able, and could work well.

In a rather weird coincidence, Arsenal’s two biggest signings this summer have names that fit beautifully into the underlay of choruses of Village People songs.

Anyone have some interesting thoughts on how to create chants for

Zu-bi-men-di (In the Navy)

and

Vik-tor Gyo-ko-res (Macho Macho Man)

As promised. Happened to stop here this morning for breakfast. Couldn’t take a better photo from inside the bathroom without it being awkward πŸ˜‚

Does it work if you put them on the rows and columns? I’ve done something similar before, but I need to find the article. There’s something you have to configure in the calc group

This has started happening to me too. But I have two very disparit listening identities (with/without my 18-month old son) and the playlists should NOT overlap (even if I do occasionally enjoy the workout provided by β€œHead, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”)!

South Africa has a lot of problems, but a lack of opportunities for photography is not one of them! I’m very fortunate to be in the bush at least once a year, and have managed to take a few photos that I’m quite proud of. It’s a real pain to get here from the States, but here it’s very affordable!

I’m very much a beginner, but I will keep the advice in mind, thanks.

Here’s a photo where I did manage to do a few things right. It’s quite a bit rarer to spot a leopard than a hummingbird, but a lot easier to get a good photo once spotted!

Thanks so much. Really appreciate that. Yeah, I wasn’t able to get below 1/1250 with the light, so was wondering how much further I would have needed to go to make the photos work. Turns out, a lot!

Such a beautiful photo. Would you mind sharing your Av, Tv and ISO? I tried taking photos of hummingbirds when I was in Vegas, and I couldn’t quite get it right (admittedly the light wasn’t very good).

It is wonderful. That’s the Symphony Choir of Johannesburg, and we are actually a fairly serious choir (despite this evidence). We were lucky to provide backing chorus for Andrea Bocelli in April. Amazing experience!

The orchestra is the wonderful Phoenix Orchestra. They’re full on professionals

As evidenced by the photo, there are plenty of choristers who also tut-tut at the idea of participating in such things. But I am a very persuasive man… and I will get the clarinetists involved πŸ˜‚ even if it’s only for the final number (Pomp and Circumstance)

A picture from the concert mentioned in this post. The conductor is wearing a top in the style of the South African flag, the orchestra members are in various hats, glasses and other paraphernalia, and are covered in streamers, and the choir have all manner of weird and wonderful accessories, including a huge number of South African flags.

I think they’re hilarious. I’ve just suggested to our choir that we get some for the woodwind section of our partner orchestra. We do a fun concert every year which involves a lot of dress up, and everyone trying to β€œout-ridiculous” everyone else.

I’m fascinated that there is more than one brand of clarinet-stache. Woodwinds are usually so serious, it’s the brass and percussion sections that involve themselves in this sort of frivolity!
