Helping each other out is not charity, that is being a pro-social human who cares. Charity via the large organisations that dispense aid (inevitably with a range of strings attached) is the problem. Eg: Food should never have to be begged for from charity. It should be a right every human has.

Devastated to hear about cuts to gender studies at the ANU. I was the inaugural ANU Gender Institute PhD Scholar and it was in gender studies that I realised my love of teaching. The ANU receives special federal funding, there is no need for these cuts!
