anyways rant over but weve been in a foul mood after all this and many other thigns so we had to get this one off our chest

the classic horrible technique of onboarding as many users as possible with a too-good-to-be-true deal before squeezing them for all their worth as suddenly said deal needs to become sustainable. we cant see any other path forward from this

we can only see freemium as a downward spiral. All 3 affinity suites for free is a wild deal and far too good to last without tamptering as more profit dmands are placed on it, and because its freemium theres no incentive to let users stick with old versions. Theres no way its not gonna become shit

this isnt even getting into the ai shit with v3 because we already have 1000000 things to complain about without even needing to touch that but yeah obviously that Sucks Ass too

our only solace is that we can still use v2 while it remains activeatable but of course with an online drm check like that that will Inevitably Not Remain the case. Love knowing that access to our software we bought can be taken away lol

the whole reason we liked affinity is because of the simple clear business model of free stability updates while major feature upgrades were separated into paid versions. We did not mind buying it a second time with how significant an upgrade v2 was. Unfortunately! v3

were so fucking tired of subscriptions and freemium shit is it too much to ask to be able to just buy a version of a piece of software with a simple. exchange of money. and know it wont be going anywhere

not as bad as the worst we feared but nahhhh we trust canva freemium bs as far as we can throw them were getting off here

it was literally faster to just start a new unity project and re set it up than whatever was going on with those files lol

every time we have to open unity theres always some bullshit for something that should be very simple and fast

not windows putting a time estimation of "more than 1 day" on a file copy operation before we can start work on the avatar scene

also beyond the other thing patreon also locked us out of editing the shop item at all because it’s a “legacy product” so that’s really cool and awesome. ….. .. at this point we might just give out the halloween source for free cause it’s different enough from the base anyways shrug

it has custom armature and animations so its not as 1:1 transferable to just give the custom parts like we have with the past addons.. ough

also the source release will probably be a bit later than the public release because we need to figure out how best to get it to those who have purchased the base. patreon's shop system desperately needs a "free for people who purchased [X]" option

our image editor (affinity) is potentially going through the enshittification process so we’re wanting to prepare ahead of time to jump ship if we have to. gotta love for-profit creative software man

anyone here do their texture creation entirely inside blender? is it viable, and if so, what addins/other such things help to make it so?

we really really really wanted to run it through both vcrs chained with rf to get maximum shit analog output but alas one of them was not behaving and we wanted to get this done today. its probably for the best anyways, the vhs recording is plenty distorted enough

btw for anyone curious the vhs effect is genuine in this, we currently have a twin vcr setup on our desk. Somewhat incidentally. it was a convenient time to make use of it while its there.

also we feel like people familiar with old keyboards could possibly identify the source of the rattling sounds
