For as common as it is for SFF to tackle themes of oppression and resistance, rarely does a book so candidly demand that its reader sit with their discomfort. This is not a book to "escape into" but fantasy that holds a mirror up to our own souls. These are the kinds of stories l'd desperately like to see more of in today's SFF. (Extra extra bonus points for the sapphic characters in this omfgggg) I will read anything Elaine Ho writes next. You do not (!!!!) want to miss this one. Out Oct 2025.
