A particular version of this I've noticed at History conferences (may be true elsewhere too) is the restatement of the story/theory as told 30 years ago, which has already been nuanced or debunked in the talk itself. I think that is a mix of the two categories at the top here.

Would those conditions mean that most pensioners with ILR would lose it? Can't see there's an exemption from the income condition.

The Mountain Goats - Collapsing Stars [Radio Session]
YouTube video by notasfarwest The Mountain Goats - Collapsing Stars [Radio Session]

This wasn't meant to come out "indier than thou", it's genuinely where I've heard of the drug. It's also a great song:

My only reference point is a session version of Collapsing Stars by the Mountain Goats:
"When we chewed up children's Tylenol like bubblegum
'Til our hearts were beating as deep and rich as kettle drums"

Not sure what I thought it was, though! (In the released version, he says pseudoephedrine)

When Catford was the home of Kent cricket Introduction If you believe in such things, there is a parallel universe somewhere where Catford is home to a third major cricket ground in London. Home to Kent County Cricket Club since the 1870s,…

New blog post on @kentcricket.co.uk's time 150 years ago based at Catford Bridge, which sadly did not result in a third major cricket ground in London

That's amazing - congratulations!
On study spots: other than the Bod itself (especially Duke Humfrey's), I used to like using All Souls library for its absurd size/grandure and in summer sitting by a window in the tower at Nuffield.

Enjoyed my inadvertent pre-listen to the Cords album today when bandcamp briefly let me listen to the whole thing. Really enjoyed it and now looking forward to listening legitimately in September!

Interesting. I was thinking they needed 150. Assume typical score is based on ODI scoring rates, is it? Has felt like ODi pace rather than T20.

One other 7/7 thread today. Because I think how the bus network got running again is a real testament to some serious heroes that day:

The bus drivers and staff who got that network running again and got London home that night.

And TfL/the Mayor disobeyed the Security Services to make it happen /1

I thought they had a Capsey in at 3 in the powerplay, NSB if it's later policy - or has that stopped now?

On this theme, it's not that long ago that Lord's was pretty full for Middlesex T20s - not today:

Middlesex summary said it was the biggest championship crowd there since 2016 (presumably the season finale vs Yorkshire)

Similarly lovely day but unlovely scoreline at Lord's today.
Might not be a draw there, though.

Was being scrupulous with 'being 16' not 'the year I turned 16' or would have had "In an aeroplane under the sea" too (not that I heard that one for another decade, mind)

Quite. Our local "underground" book exchange was in the street level entrance of Lewisham station, outside the barriers, which was apparently reclassified as being underground because it's also by the entrance to the DLR.

I didn't know that. Maybe they could club together with Middlesex, who've been talking about a similar venue for years and never seem to get beyond looking for a site. Or they could all play at Beckenham and be just a bus ride from my house πŸ˜€

And/or b) a desire to have more Tier 1 cricket in London (although obvious question then, as per the article is why not at the Oval)

I was surprised by the Surrey games at Beckenham (pleasantly surprised, as it's my nearest fc ground).
Interested to know if a rationale will be given. Wonder if it's a one or both of a) seeing through the plan to have it as the SE Stars' home (presumably a joint Surrey/Kent decision)...
