A Rutgers University professor who taught a course on anti-fascism was blocked from leaving the US for Spain on Wednesday night, according to media reports, hours after Donald Trump hosted a White House roundtable highlighting the impact of antifa – or “anti-fascist” – far-left activists.

Mark Bray, an historian who published the 2017 book Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, and has taught courses on anti-fascism at the New Jersey university, was attempting to board a plane at Newark airport bound for Europe…

The professor, nicknamed “Dr Antifa” by a group of students, had said he was moving to Europe after receiving death threats. Turning Point USA activists have claimed he is a “financier” for the leftwing movement.

“‘Someone’ cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second,” Bray posted on Bluesky social media. “We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’”

Either you're against fascism, or you're foolish enough to believe it won't come for you.

With SCOTUS set to legalize conversion therapy, I think it's important for states to get around this decision by implementing new legislation applying private rights of action to practitioners of conversion therapy by their victims with large damages and long statutes of limitations.

This will stop the practice regardless and make challenging the legislation near impossible as no state actor will be doing the enforcement. This will essentially be a classic tort for the harm induced through conversion therapy rather than any infringement on free speech.

It's also, most importantly, the kind of legislation that Texas used to effectively ban abortion that SCOTUS refused to block. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Even if successfully challenged, it will take years to litigate and we end up with the benefit of ending these legal ends runs around constitutional rights by simply applying a private right of action.

Andrew Seidel spoke about the case and said that he thought even a liberal judge or two were going to get this wrong and the final verdict would probably be 7-2. Hopefully we can get some states to at least follow your suggestion. Conversion therapy is nothing but torture, especially for children.

They're deluded in thinking this would somehow protect therapy that affirms trans folks or LGBTQ people writ large. It's very clear that there is a double standard here after Skrmetti and only Justice Jackson saw through it.

Legalizing torture doesn’t make it right
Anyone subjected to conversion therapy should have the ability to not only confront but to also sue aforementioned torture chambers to oblivion
