Just a complete lack of even the most basic logical follow through in these people's brains.

I wonder why anyone bothers taking it illegally if it makes no difference because of magic boy bones or whatever.

But, supposedly, an elite male athlete can completely alter their hormonal makeup without it affecting their performance? They'll still post the same times with minimal testosterone in their blood, will they? Remarkable!

I mean, an athlete can crash out of an event early because they tweaked their ankle six months ago, or lose a match due to poor conditioning, or mess up their exercise or diet regimen and underperform. The margins are that thin at the highest levels, and you know that.

And it doesn't matter how many trans women post scores or times or whatever that are well within the norms of their cis counterparts, it doesn't matter how many times they lose their events, you're convinced that somehow elite athletic performance is based on what genitalia a person is born with.

And everything flows from that baseline error where you assume an athletic advantage survives the process of transitioning because you think transitioning is purely cosmetic.

There's no point citing statistics about cis men. That's betraying your bias, because somewhere in your transphobic little brain, when you hear "trans woman" you think "man wearing a dress".

Because, and I cannot stress this enough because it's the whole crux of the argument: trans women undergoing HRT literally don't have a physical advantage in sports over cis women. Cis men might, but a trans woman isn't a cis man. That's why they're described with different words.

Saying trans women should be banned from competing in sports against cis women because you, a cis man, were a better athlete as a novice than professional cis women athletes, whether true or not (it's not), isn't the slam dunk argument you think it is.

There's a whole resonance there with the Protestant notion of repentance and faith effectively removing any stain of sin.

PoC don't avoid insulting white people to their faces because they're worried about hurting their feelings: it's because quite often that kind of thing is literally dangerous. But if you're white, not being racist is more like a favour you're doing (for some people). Whence "virtue signalling".

And I think it's just a whole weird permission structure thing, because if you're part of the in-group, any consideration for the feelings of others is a limit imposed upon you by your peers or yourself, not an organic survival strategy.

You only have to look at how desperate some white people are to be "allowed" to use slurs. They will ask Black people to their faces if they can say them now they're friends! I've seen it happen!

Western society is built on racist foundations. It's never *really* that far below the surface, and I think for a lot of people, the main motivation to do anything is what other people think of them. So any tiny little sliver of permission to be racist gets seized upon.

the cool thing is, huge corporations have invested billions into AI, hoping it will pay off. so, if we manage to bully AI out of most spaces, those corporations will also lose billions of dollars. it's the best two-for-one special i can think of.

I've made it sound a bit more sudden than it was. But Perkins and Crawford both left WOTC and then announced they had new roles at Darrington Press. So I think the two organisations have a fair bit of communication going on!

Given their two main designers jumped ship to CR's publishing company the other month, I think they're probably aware!
