Is @who.int trying to get rid of health promotion?
We say that this wouldn't just be unwise.
It would be disastrous.

Seine swimming pool opening gives Paris mayor another jewel in her green crown
Making the famed river swimmable is one of the final big projects Anne Hidalgo will inaugurate before she leaves office next year.
The many remarkable city-building legacies of Paris Mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social, including brand new Seine swimming pool openings, are discussed in this @politico.eu article, quoting many including Canadian urbanist @brenttoderian.bsky.social.

The disappearance of the unclear question
AI speeds up research, but without friction, do students lose the deep thinking that turns bad questions into meaningful learning?
"In many fields of study, including literature, philosophy, and the humanities more broadly, ambiguity is not a problem to be solved. It is a resource for continuous critical thinking, renegotiating arguments, and reflection." Co-written w/ @jeppestricker.bsky.social

#ArbeitInDerWiss #IchBinHanna

When you have lived experience *and* professional qualifications related to your work, other people tend to focus on one and minimize the other. You are peer OR professional, but seldom both. This shows up in peer roles, critical disciplines and student affairs, and more.

6k euro to publish a paper in Lancet Public Health
Let’s just sit & think about that
Students & post docs need these publications for their career
Our institutions, who don’t fund us properly, want us to publish in these journals
We raise the cash, do the research & reviewing for these journals

In case I've not said this recently:
If you find yourself on a committee discussing the needs of a particular group of people, but you look around the room & don't see anyone from that group, you should be highly skeptical of any conclusions reached

💡 In public health we often consider power in the sense of power ‘over’ but as a sector we have enormous potential if we lean into the concepts of power ‘with’, power ‘to’ and power ‘despite’. - Anne Marie Thow
