My daughter was almost 4 when diagnosed w/#DIPG (brainstem cancer). It’s the most lethal disease on earth (yes, really).
Pls help raise awareness & funding for more research. Esp. important now that🍊🀑 & 🧠πŸͺ± gutted the #NCI & #NIH.

September is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month which is also dear to me as I lost my 11 y/o cousin to DIPG in March β€˜24. Funding for research was already low, but is being cut further, thanks to this administration.

ChadTough Defeat DIPG is a private organization started by families who lost their children to DIPG to fund research, spread awareness, and support DIPG families. With National Cancer Institute funding cut off, it is now the main source of funding for pediatric brain, cancer research and trials.

This morning, we had the pleasure to welcome Dr Clara Savary from @hmriaustralia.bsky.social.

She is currently working on deciphering the resistance mechanisms of ONC201 in DIPG.

Well done Clara and the whole team led by Dr Matt Dun. πŸ‘

Clarifying: my lab is still here; we are stopping new expts to focus on analyzing + pub'ing what's on hand. Instability at the fed level makes it difficult for scientists like me to take risks on discovery + innov. This impacts what research q's we can ask; this directly impacts what work we can do

This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH
