When times get tough, we try to remember

The family drama of it too, the real sense of otherness that Gene clearly struggles with- yeah, definitely a special story worth recommending. Rumspringa is fantastic, of course, but Gene is truly something else!

Dear Gene seriously made me cry. It was so heartfelt and genuine and it's so incredibly rare to feature a relationship that runs the gamut from friends to lovers to something not quite defined. Just beautiful <3

Hot dang, does this show deliver everything I'd hoped it would. You are so right in that it feels like an early 00s anime- unhinged, tenderly crafted, and not afraid to do something different.

I was unsure of the pacing differences but now that ep 2 is out, I'm loving it. A+++ adaptation
