It was brought to my attention today that when we said “build community” a number of people much higher than 0 thought that meant “make friends” and I’m concerned that:
1. It never occurred to me that we’d miss each others’ understanding so profoundly and
2. Those people may not find one in time.

Don’t forget that one of the goals here is to convince us that they are so well-organized and so prepared, that there is nothing we can do.

But ALSO don’t forget that while they are loud, none of their goals are new. The communities who pushed back their ancestors are still here pushing back.

Seeing older people in their 90s (and that one guy who is 102) saying goodbye and wondering if they’ll be alive when/if everyone gets to log back on was heartbreaking: “You’re all my friends. Goodbye, friends” with tears in their eyes.
