Impressive that Collinsworth can carry that much water for the Pats at 67.

Ron Wyden Only Talks Like This When The Spies Do Something *Real* Bad No, I don't know what they did. But I have a lot of experience with the senator

@wyden.senate.gov's record of warning that there is deep and constitutionally-serious dirt being done by the intelligence agencies in secret is unblemished. The vaguer he is, the filthier the dirt is. This is the vaguest I've ever seen him

Yes, and it’s the nature of authoritarian consolidation generally. Lights should be blinking redβ€”all of them

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.

Source familiar with Don Lemon's arrest tells me DOJ went to a grand jury to secure an indictment (DOJ's effort to get a criminal complaint had already been rejected in court twice).

This is ugly. More soon.

ICE’s excuse for wearing masks has never actually manifested There have been incidents of harassment and threats. But there are no apparent incidents in which identified ICE officers have been assaulted off-duty.

Finally got around to a bit of research I'd been meaning to explore, and: There is no documented instance of an ICE officer being identified and assaulted while off duty because he wasn't masked. www.pbump.net/o/ices-excus...

β€œWe conclude that Maduro likely qualifies as a POW under one (or more) of the theories explained below, and as such should be afforded that status while in U.S. custody.”

Does the U.S. capture of Maduro trigger POW status? Just Security analysis from former State Dept advisor and IHL scholars lays out three legal theories. Key point: the U.S. cannot simply declare there is no war when it used armed force against another state.

During his first court appearance in the United States, Maduro demanded to be afforded POW status. But does he have it? According to Tracey Begley, Benjamin Farley, and @mikeschmitt.bsky.social, he likely does. Read more here:

While this isn't an invasion of Ecuador, it does look like a breach (or attempted breach) of U.S. obligations under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.

It also might violate U.S. criminal law intended to implement U.S. international law obligations. E.g., 18 USC 112 & 878

We Told You So: Now What for Northeast Syria? Chaos in the camps and prisons in NE Syria was predictable. The new Syrian government must provide security and protection to the detainees.

"Slowly then all at once"--true for bankruptcy and the end of the SDF's detention regime in northeast Syria, alike. But with it, new challenges, the same old challenges, and some even worse ones.
