I'm not particularly proud of it, but sometimes I just don't *get* things. Unlike some people I don't try to pull that "just asking" crap. I really *do* want to know and I wouldn't be asking if I did.

Yeah. Getting other people's perspectives on things can really help a lot.

Also yeah, though I tend to pair that with an obsession in parts of the US with the End of Times. I can provide links to explain that, but I warn they're going to be weird/gross.

I can be incredibly dense at times and what may be blatantly obvious to other people is not always so to me. I really appreciate the folks pointing it out.

It really does take me a minute with stuff sometimes. I really don't *get* people who do stuff for hate, so when some new version of it crops up it can take a bit for me to understand it's the same thing in a different hat.

I'm very aware of that, it's just I can be incredibly dense at times, so it's really helpful when folks point this stuff out.

I mean, there are some folk out there who've got nothing but hate in their hearts and use any excuse to express it. It's gross when folks do things like that, since even a little research can very quickly show the error of such thinking, should one be willing to admit error.

Have you been reading through all the posts? I will admit to being wrong on the antisemitism, but it didn't occur to me as such initially. In any case, the conversation has gone on to how being anti-Israel can be due to being anti-Netanyahu since leaders and countries tend to be conflated.

One can, in fact, be against Netanyahu because he's a jerk and not because he's a Jew. It's not very hard to be against his policies which have nothing to do with being Jewish.

So's what Trump's doing. The issue is, if I'm understanding this conversation correctly, that there's a more likely origin in antisemitism than in anti-Netanyahu, specifically because it's just one poster that seems to have sparked it.

This is not that much different than, likely how folks will associate the US with Trump, regardless of what people here are actually like.

It does not *help* that Israel is primarily Jewish and thus antisemitism is going to be in the mix.

I would agree. However, I am going to insist on reminding people that Netanyahu is committing genocide and war crimes against the people of Gaza and while that certainly would not reflect the views of the people of Israel it is, unfortunately what gets associated with that nation.

I must defer to people who have more experience in the area of antisemitism than I do. However, I still stand by my assertion that just because someone is against Israel for the genocide its government is currently committing does not have to come from an antisemitic view, though it could overlap.
