Decided to start this project just under a month ago. Brand new social media accounts, new business model, and not leveraging any existing connections.

booked my first demo call 23 days in! Definitely not the fastest growth, and still isn’t a closed deal, but it’s a start!

Make it easy for yourself to make good decisions and difficult for bad decisions.

- Plan your day out the night before
- set your desk up before you go to bed
- throw away the junk food
-leave the good stuff out where you can see it

if you’re still reading this, I have 2 reasons I am sharing this story:

1. It is my public declaration to take back control of my life and be the role model my daughter deserves

2. Hopefully it motivates others to take action as well.

I started drinking again and stopped counting calories.

I told myself I had come this far and I could “enjoy life” occasionally.

Well, occasionally turned into often.

before I knew it, I was almost back up to my original weight.

And if I’m being honest, I looked even worse.

It’s exhausting and it tested my willpower.

And unfortunately, I fell back into some of my bad habits.

I have always had a tough relationship with food, and my family really likes their wine.

Between the lack of sleep and the environment I was in, I caved.

I wish the lesson could end there.

But, I learned even more about myself after she was born.

For those of you that don’t know, Babies are A LOT of work.

They rely on you 24/7. They can’t do anything themselves. They cry all the time. They don’t sleep through the night.

I wanted to show my child that you have full control over your own life.

So I quit drinking and smoking, cold turkey.

I began working out everyday.

reading every morning.

and I started my own business.

just before she was born, I felt like I could call myself a role model.

I was working a 9-5, helping someone else chase their goals.

I was overweight.

I was stress eating, drinking more than my fair share, smoked weed daily, and hadn’t done a proper workout in who knows how long.

I had to stop living like that if I wanted to be a role model.

2 years ago, my wife told me she was pregnant.

When she told me, it forced me to really think about my life, the choices I’d made, and whether or not I was setting the right example for my future child.

This deep reflection made me realize I wasn’t living an exemplary life.👇

Success is the ability to endure short term discomfort for long term achievement.

Your goal is to get these three as far apart as possible.

Are you willing to do what others won’t?

Nobody cares about you.

But once you come to terms with that, it is oddly empowering.

Use it as the frame when writing your marketing messages and sales scripts.

Post whatever you want. Nobody cares.

Everyone is too busy thinking “what’s in it for me” to care about you.

Market looking for a product > product looking for a market

It is part of my series, where I start and scale online businesses to help others fast-track their success.

Getting more narrow actually allows you to build messages that speak to a wider audience. “Nancy” and everyone else like her will be more likely to listen and engage with your message when they feel as though you are speaking to her (them) rather than women as a whole.

But to craft an effective message, you need to start with the individual.

Rather than selling to 25-40 year old women living in Montana, you should be selling to “Nancy the 37 year old mother of two who likes listening to audiobooks while cleaning and posts on Facebook.”

Most people think an audience refers to a large group of people, often distinct and diverse in their interests and behaviors.

Often times the only similarities a business will pay attention to are Age, Gender, and Location.

When I take on a new client, I walk them through the 4A framework:

Audience
Acquisition
Ascension
Allegiance

It’s a simple 4 step process and addressing each step in order, makes the next step flow naturally.

Let’s start with the Audience.

Effective marketing starts with your “ICP” or Ideal Client Persona in mind.

A running theme I’ve noticed with my clients, is that they target too broad.

While the end goal may be to sell to everyone (or almost everyone) you need to start with the individual.

Not all good opportunities are good.

Before you start chasing a new investment, idea, etc.

Ask yourself, “Will this take my focus away from my main goal?”

If it does, it’s not worth it.

Stay focused.

I wish I would have learned this earlier in life:

Invest in yourself first.

I started putting money in the stock market when I was young, but it barely moved the needle, since I didn’t have much to invest.

Pay to learn skills, use skills to make more, then invest in others.
