VERITAT.

JUSTÍCIA.

REPARACIÓ.

I will think about this next time! Sorry I missed it here. Here is the description of the pics:

Thanks to all members of the @salehlabparis.bsky.social for support and teamwork; couldn't have done it without you 🫶

Thanks to @pasteur.fr for hosting me during my PhD journey😄👨‍🔬

Having shared that...

We found that:

*Persistence reduces fly survival

*Hosts trade reproduction for immunity

*Persistently infected flies have impaired movement and altered sleep, but keep circadian rhythm

*Different viruses trigger distinct transcriptional responses

*And more!

But first, I wanna share some sneak peeks of how this work has come to be, how I made the lab home, and the bonding that comes with working closely:

In our latest work, we established persistent viral infections to examine their impact on this model organism.
We followed survival and other life history traits, and we also performed a transcriptomic analysis over time… (The data is available for you to play with it! 💻🧬🪰)

I'm so excited to share this with all of you!
This is the very first paper where I am the first author 🥹
Let me share some insights about our work 👇🧵(1/5):

How do persistent viral infections impact the host?

What happens when a fly becomes persistently infected by a virus?

Persistent viral #infections in #insects are not as harmless as once believed. @salehlabparis.bsky.social &co show how such infections in #FruitFlies alter survival, reproduction, behavior & gene expression, revealing the hidden costs of #viral persistence @plosbiology.org 🧪 plos.io/4olpuXm
