Liquid diet today and I am ravenous at *checks watch* 8:24 am. Cool cool going to be a very great and productive day.
05.08.2025 15:24 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Gerrymandering is, of course, stupid (bc districts ought to correspond to actual communities), but it's effects on legislators' voting behavior and elite polarization are modest. If one party is willing to gerrymander, the other can too without large costs to the things we actually care about (1/2)

05.08.2025 15:17 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0I'm of the opinion that CA/IL/NY should proceed with redistricting efforts regardless of the TX outcome (and that TX Ds should continue to fight). I don't think we should wait for them to be ruthless for us to be ruthless. They don't wait for us, and the stakes are too high.

A new Senate report released today by Sen. Blumenthal finds that the "DOGE" initiative cost taxpayers at least $21.7 billion.
I have a very strong suspicion that whomever is ultimately confirmed here will be much more MAGAfied and much less likely to support education policies that move the nation forward.

Note that "some universities, such as the University of Chicago, still havenโt seen any enrollment drops"; we are still fumbling around in the dark a bit for the narrative here. Again, I'd argue for a good bit of humility.
Probably. And how much do salaries vary by state and by institution within state at publics? (A legitimate question, I do not know).
