It's similar to my feelings on Dragon Ball. Love DBZ Abridged, but my favorite subvillain being Nappa is suffering. So much funny about him gets overwritten by abridged humor. Remember when, on screen, he shot eye lazors at a crowd of people screaming "I HATE THE MEDIA!"? That actually happened!

I get slightly peeved when people see me like a media, and assume I must really be into the common fandom memes. No, a lot of my favorite inside jokes are personalized to my playthrough. No Sabin suplex train for me, instead it's "Why is Aura Cannon so comically broken?"

There's something really funny to me about Monika vibing just outside the shame corner, so she's just having a conversation with Nephenee and Edea. A very strange trio....

Hearing PatStaresAt call Octopath Traveler "Not FF, but rather, SaGa" hurts my soul when OT pretty definitively shares more with FF (Traditional Leveling, Job Levels, the Job System????), and its similiarites with SaGa begin and end at "You choose one of eight characters to be your protagonist."

I should scream about my shitty gaming takes that nobody cares about more.

Like how I really actually super enjoy RPGs with "limited QoL" a lot and find the process of learning menu navigation personally really fun. I know why people want something snappier but that shit is a vibe to me.

Season 6 Episode 20 is technically a Boomhauer episode but has the single best Bill moment in the entire show.

I'm not going to be a sheep and say FF5 or Tactics despite really liking the game and instead urge people to play either SaGa Frontier or SaGa Scarlet Grace. Or any SaGa game in general. The entire series is fire.

I will always stand firm on this.

Literally every single turn is a mental math equation of probability, turn order, taking mental notes of enemy behavior, optimal targeting and thought. You are almost never taking the same action twice, and every battle, including losses, is useful information.

My self esteem has been through the roof in the last couple days.

I've felt compelled to do chores consistently, work on projects and I've been waking up earlier than usual, so I feel less suffocated by time.

There was a harmony to previous technological developments which left room for those older methods to continue to develop alongside it instead of killing them. genAI meanwhile seeks to kill all of it in favor of slop and killing an industry of creativity.

The act of creation is still what's occurring with these things. Typing up a prompt and praying the RNG spits out what you want will never be not only the same as hand drawn art, but also even digital artists doing everything they can to find the perfect placement for their funky gradiant.

When something like tablets and computers were used for things like animation, those who still used it still respected older methods of artistic expression and even continue to encourage those willing to go for it to do so (Even if they were initially controversial.).

The way I would put it, I think the distinction made here is genuinely love. genAI in its current form is a technology explicitly created and updated by people who seem to despise not only older forms of art, but the act of creation as a whole.
