You find out how good at classroom management and teaching a specific subject you are when the internet goes out in the middle of your internet required lesson.

The worst part about taking a sick day on Friday is not seeing how it went until Monday.

In honor of my first cold of the school year, a look back at the calculus I do when determining whether or not I take a sick day.

Iβve been phasing it in over the past 3 years. While my students arenβt at the VNPS every class period, Iβm working towards 3/5 days per week.
05.12.2024 02:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I highly disagree. These are great problems for students to work together on solving. They are able to come up with great strategies, and always want to solve more. I use them all the time in my classroom.
Not magic.
Here's a new "The Answers Are..." problem I created.
Remember, the rules are...
1. Use +, -, x , / one time each
2. Use one operation a second time
3. Create each answer from only 2 numbers in the bank
4. Numbers in the bank can only be used one time each
Can you figure it out?

Today I received a message from a student on our classroom website messaging app.
"Thank you Mr. Zuercher for helping me with my meth".
Yep, you read that correctly.
How come I am exhausted after a perfectly normal day of school?

During a test yesterday a student approached my desk and asked to borrow an eraser, but I was all out.
Another student began hunting through his backpack to find a spare.
He finally found one, ran over and gave it to him, and said βyou got this buddy!β
I love moments of classroom kindness. π
