Hi all: the relative merits of any given article in a source widely understood to be fringe media or a purveyor of disinformation is largely irrelevent, we are labeling based on the quality of the overall site and do not make exceptions.

We've temporarily closed everything except appeals. We'll be back.

As this change may take us some time, we have suspended all reporting except for appeals until we have completed this transition.

We may also remove additional labels as we review their criteria, and we will refine the criteria of others to narrow their scope.

We will be removing the following labels and associated blocklists: Fully Automated Luxury Reply Guy, Dehumanizing Rhetoric, Low Quality Replies, Unsourced Reporting, RM(V)E / IM(V)E, TERF, and Troll.

We will be reducing the number of labels we offer to just those which do not require substantial moderator input to apply.

In the meantime, to remove anyone from a list requires iterating through all the listrecords in our PDS, for all of the lists. This makes for a slow and unreliable process at scale.

Essentially, when Bluesky takes down an account, the listRecord remains, and our current solution has no way to remove the account from the list when the takedown occurs. We hope to develop one and restore the list.

As most of the Suspected Inauthentic accounts are spammy, we recommend setting the Label to "Hide" to avoid seeing these.

We hope this prevents frustrating instances where a user successfully appeals a label and has it removed, but attempts to remove them from the corresponding blocklist fail.

We have made the decision to delete the block list associated with the Suspected Inauthentic label. The nature of how lists work on bluesky and the scale of that list (80K+ accounts) was making it difficult to remove accounts from other block lists.

You were initially labeled after going on a day long antisemitic rant. You appealed and pointed us to an apology post, and we removed the label. However, we restored the label after several posts which made it clear that the apology was perfunctory and manipulative.

Hiding behind the labeler: Labeler subscribers who routinely pick fights with other users and then report the other user when they hit back will have their reports muted and may be labeled if their behavior is sufficiently troll like.

The label exists, but there is an associated blocklist that is hidden.

If you are looking for the block list associated with the TERF-GC label, please be aware that it has been temporarily been hidden by Bluesky as potentially “violat[ing] our Community Guidelines.”

We have of course appealed and hope to restore this service to you in short order.

Oh that's not one of ours, but there is another one out there that is doing accounts following more than a certain number of people.

Which labels? Plenty of them are purely descriptive and not intended to convey that they’re offensive.

This is honestly the best way for anyone to use it, simply because we do cast a wide net on many of the labels.

And we do make mistakes from time to time too.

Hi all, when you make reports to the labeler, please provide context and don't just submit a blank report. This is especially true if you're reporting an account and the reason is non-obvious. Thank you!
