I know, It’s hard to feel patriotic when we watch rights being stripped away and communities silenced. But today is a reminder that true patriotism lives in the people who keep showing up. This 4th of July, we can honor those fighting to make America live up to its promise…for everyone.

The original #Juneteenth flag was created in 1997. The single star in the middle represents #Texas where the last slaves were finally freed. The starburst represents a new beginning - the arc is a new horizon. The colors (red, white, and blue) remind us that those enslaved were Americans, too.

On this day in 1865, enslaved people in Texas were notified by Union Civil War soldiers about the abolition of slavery. This was 2.5 years after the final Emancipation Proclamation which freed all enslaved Black Americans. #Juneteenth

Another adult stepped in to stop the harassment while recording the incident. After a few exchanges, the woman left.

Bigots online raised $200K+ for her in a single day. Racism is still lucrative.

I wish our district would listen to the community they serve instead of being cowards and projecting their own issues and lack of accountability on those who disagree with them.

Previously, our Democratic board members had an actual interactive town hall with no incidents (cobbcountycourier.com/2023/02/cobb...).

From school board meetings to attending community meetings, the only violence I have seen was at a school board meeting due to our district deciding to move signup outside two minutes before signing in started after people were already in line to sign up (www.cobbcareco.com/cobb-county-...).

But, Cobb School District will never miss a chance to politicize our students and now making their town hall virtual citing “safety concerns” and wanting folks to “listen and learn” (which is NOT the purpose of a town hall).

Community members have been asking our Cobb County School Board for a town hall for years (especially regarding school safety). Now that they have hired Servius (which originally was to monitor our kids for violence), they were supposed to do a town hall on sex trafficking.
