that felt like a simulation of September weather. like on Sept 1st somebody turned the thermostat down to 82° then on Oct 1st they turned it to 72°

whenever I bring up John Maus January 6th I get some wierd reaction so Im just gonna move on from that and go with I just dont like his voice or music

for one they groove way more than their peers imho

another is that they are more abstract. (tho chaotic/cathartic) they dont really address pain/alienation or politics. not that theres anything wrong with that, but revisiting the pain of your 20yo self seems embarrassing 30 years later

I hesitate to say emo (or screamo) because they have a few qualities that distinguish them from their 90s contemporaries (like Frail & PolicyOfThree who are also goated and also playing)

I went to school in Virginia in the late 90s during their heyday. its hard to find a photo of them live that doesnt have me & the crew watching

Yeah but he was a later addition. I havent asked about his status in their current incarnation. He seems pretty busy running the sound at Knockdown Center. I think they still practice behind our studio but not sure of that either

it seemed like they updated the sound 15-20 years ago, with some vocal effects/delay, influence of newer hiphop, and a few neat new grooves/breakdowns (the slow bounce). but I havent heard many changes since then
