For Immediate Release January 08 2025 Beginning January 8th, 40+ Columbia University students will face disciplinary hearings before the University Judicial Board (UJB, Columbia's adjudicating body) for alleged involvement in the Gaza Solidarity Encampment and liberation of Hind's Hall, a campus building renamed in honor of Hind Rajab. Six-year-old Hind Rajab spent her last days besieged in a car, as the israeli occupation force (IOF) used 355 bullets to murder her and the paramedics sent to rescue her. 460 days into the ongoing genocide of Palestinians, Columbia remains complicit in the assassination of Hind and ever 400.000+ Palestinians. After months of administrative ineptitude, the UJB scheduled 40+ student hearings in the middle of winter break. The university has failed to produce any individualized evidence despite hours of interrogations and has repeatedly extended the disciplinary hearing timeline, now over 8 months since the alleged incidents. The sole "evidence" the University has produced thus far is sealed arrest records, which cannot be legally possessed-let alone used to discipline students-under New York's sealing statute (CPL §160.50).
