The issue with pics like this now is that unless it’s someone I know (at least through friends like our friend Jeff who had a huge weight loss success in the last year), I immediately wonder if those pictures are real or AI.

German/European Christmas markets have become a very popular winter destination for monied Americans not afraid of leaving the country. My first year here (13), I noticed it and it seems to grow annually (except for when the government cancelled Christmas 2 years in a row). It’s almost a cliche now.

My favorite place in Germany, but never been at Christmas. I sense a year of booming tourism from monied Americans. They probably made up over 60% of people on my flight from Miami last week and even on the short hop from FRA to NUE. There’s always a lot, but this year seems really strong.

Had a lovely first visit to our Christmas market (best in Bavaria, one of best in nation) tonight under warm (temps in upper 50s) weather and low crowds of mostly monied Americans.

Normally, I’d have pics aplenty to share, but I just wasn’t in the mood. I really hate the world right now.

Very true. But I’m not at all sure that being smart or good actually matters at all in this world. And the more I live and observe, the stronger that feeling grows.

Although it was a bit affirming to meet a local person tonight near a Nazi demonstration and just connect in a human way.

It should be an easy call for good people. But, clearly, it’s not. I’ve seen so much hate, which sadly doesn’t surprise me, ooze out of groups like the Disney fan community. Because hate is a very human problem. And Trump and MAGA embolden scum of all sorts, from local to bullies to Nazi oligarchs.

…but being owned and controlled by the world’s richest Nazi isn’t one. It IS a huge problem. We just went into town to visit our world famous Christmas market and there was a tiny (think under 50) Nazi demonstrators and I’ve never seen so much police here. They get it. People in the USA 🇺🇸, don’t.2/2

I don’t think the answer is good. And I may well have to bankrupt myself so that everyone in my family is covered. But who cares? Two suicide attempts for this nation in under a decade. This one has us mortally wounded.

I’m not picking on you. I respect that you responded. And I actually did not notice your posts there. But dozens of others … and it does bother me. People are not thinking about what they’re really supporting. They’re doing what is easy.

I hope that @warren.senate.gov, the @wgawest.bsky.social, the @wgaeast.bsky.social, and others who have rung alarm bells at the proposed Netflix acquisition of Warner Bros. will treat this hostile takeover bid from Paramount as at least as much of a threat.

I feel dirty even dropping a post there. The wife has deleted the app entirely. I see value in keeping it to truly see the lack of humanity and common sense in people. But I obviously don’t go there even to read regularly. I felt like I’d just fallen into an icy pond.

The problem is that’s ultimately an excuse. They’re showing remarkably poor/selfish/ignorant judgment and helping enrich a madman. It hurts us all. There are people I miss, but it speaks volumes that they see no moral issue in staying there. And many, because they’re here too, I didn’t expect there.

So, went to the Nazi’s platform to read something I was linked to and what a sickening disappointment to see so many people I/we like and interact with still posting like crazy there. Like it’s 2021 or the whole ‘Elon is a Nazi’ just blew over and it’s safe for them. I even posted those feelings.

So there’s a meme going around with a bottle of chilled champagne with a “is he dead yet?” tag on it. And I thought about posting it, but why?

I really try not to hate people unless they earn it, but sometimes I think being a sociopath would make life so much easier.

Sitting in a German doctor’s packed waiting room for something that’s been bothering me for five years (and is very likely nothing at all beyond my own bad posture and sleeping position) and wondering how sick some of the dozen plus people waiting are and if they’re contagious. But no co-pays!

Larry Ellison is his buddy. His obtaining of Paramount was fixed when there were multiple other parties who had interest and were basically told “hands off … it’s done.” The government knew. The media knew. It was simply ignored. PAR was literally stolen from the Redstones & handed to the Ellisons.

Paramount Golden Boy David Ellison just launched a $30 a share all cash offer for Warner Bros with CNBC doing its propaganda for the deal that Trump wants badly.

Absolutely expected. But sickening at the same time because it does nothing to change the belief that everything is fixed.

I am wondering if it’s more of a Northern German custom. I grew up in the country here in Bavaria and never came across one.

You should look into the Cleveland Clinic brand (because that’s what it is, like Starbucks or McDonald’s) and how they can ban an entire family from getting care at the only facility in a Florida community. It’s fascinating and grotesque at same time.
