Absolutely.

Something we have to understand is that evil never takes a break. Never takes a holiday. When those of us on the left breathe a sigh of relief cons seethe and scheme and pressure. And they do it constantly

That it takes constant pressure to move something as big as an institution.

My only stance on public toilets is that you can't have a 'male' toilet and a 'female' toilet.
You can, however, have a men's toilet and a women's toilet.
Obviously you can also have a non-gendered toilet.
But the toilet itself is mute, porcelain, genderless and hopefully hygenic.

blackness has been studying white nationalist empire since day 1.

the issue for black folks is that we've been locked out of generating systems of succession (wealth) and have to use art as the placeholder for our civilization & not the museum/temple/feds building maintained by empire against us.

if governance was a video game then this current climate is a save mode were government & resistance reset themselves, a repeat pattern that feels dire & new because its been unseen for multiple generations. but our history books have recorded it all.

what makes this era of fascism seem different is that empire itself has returned to an authoritarianism not seen in a hundred years; apparently, power requires pressure valves within power itself and not just within its activists. but these draconian methods arent new for us

Put more succinctly: police violence is the primary violence at protests but police also understand who they can and can't be violent with.

I think you're highlighting a point Black activists have been making for a while now.

Police are far less likely to brutalize norrmy libs, the NPR crowd, and wine moms. Which is why activists have been frustrated by those crowds praising themselves for maintaining "peaceful" demonstrations.

claude informed us that empire studies mass psychology & fixes avenues for every generation to express its outrage in ways that make people feel accomplished & hopeful but barely move the needle in actual goals of empire, from government to universities. theyve seen it all & are prepared.

Anyway, the folks who don't listen to words in a law book, words from a judge, are also not going to listen to words from a crowd.

Yes, show up, let them know you're not down with it.

Then figure out what the actual levers of power you can use bc actually, the arc of justice don't bend itself.

One of the biggest successes of oppression here in the US in the last 20-30 years was convincing the average citizen that "non violent tactics" only means marching and rallies, and that any possible material damage, to anything at all, was "violent".

The sit ins of the 60s primary success was not "visibility", it was disruption to the business. If the business cannot operate normally and make money, it becomes more viable to just "let them buy your product/food and they're gone in 20-30 minutes" rather than lose a day of profit.

Thank you Portland. Their example of how to flip propaganda on its head not by contesting false claims about crime but by telling your own story clearly infused joy and ridicule into today's protests. And that is what breeds FOMO for next march.

Three dudes in cow costumes (black and white spotted cows). They're on a sidewalk in front of a mirror building, where a luxury highrise condo is visible in the reflection.
One sign says "Udder Failure", another says "His lies are cow pies" and the third says "Minneapolis cows stand with Portland frogs".

The cow on the left had not met the two cows on the right before the march.

Lana Reckeweg, who lives at a North Philly women's shelter, said her resources were seriously limited, but that didn't stop her from finding cardboard and getting markers to make signs to give to other demonstrators.
She said that over the last several months a handful of undocumented women have found sanctuary in the place she calls home, and seeing their struggles made her want to attend the protest on their behalf.
"I have done a lot of crying. I see how it's affecting them every day," said Reckeweg, trying to keep her handwriting steady on a moving bus.

Sam Daveiga, 15, attended her first protest, the Women's March, when she was 7 years old. This time, she brought along her father, Ed. "Every voice counts," the Philly teen said.

Yeah, this protest was about half elders

You ever seen a whole ass government annoy retirees to the point they remember the 60s?

I never have. Not until today. Even in June people weren't asking could I interview them for democracy's sake.
