One thing to note about all this Game Pass chat, is it focuses on Ultimate. That’s the tier purpose built for the biggest of gamers.

Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick once questioned the logic of game subscriptions. Based on the firm’s GTA data, he said most gamers only play a couple of games a year. So why would they subscribe for 100s?

Some stats:

- Average Game Pass Ultimate player plays $550 worth of games a year
- Game Pass users spend most of their time on catalogue games
- According to Circana, US players who unsubscribed to Game Pass, PS+ or NSO (in Q3) said they were unable to β€œjustify the cost but liked the service”
