For graphic novels, especially adult genre fiction, it's incredibly helpful to review it online, talk about it, recommend it to a friend—adult fiction in the graphic novel space is difficult to place, and nothing convinces readers that they'll like a book more than the personal testimonial.

hoping to god that the story is as good as i remember it being. i did really start to have fun once it let me loose and let me give my character a class! so i'm hopeful that the first little bit was just bogged down by the stuff i mentioned

OH wait . another thing. i'm so concerned about the party system and the fact that you just randomly pick party members up. part of the fun in octopath is the fact that it has eight main characters that you get to know over time. meanwhile, i picked up some random scholar who was like "OH SHIT!!!!

happen since i played the first half or so of cotc. even then, though, i've had fun replaying the first couple octopaths in the past! i like replaying games in general! so again, something in 0 just isn't quite clicking for me yet. i'm hoping it starts to click more once the full game is out

like... if i look at fea, robin is technically a self insert and they have their own personality. idk if i'm making sense. i wish they'd at least give me dialogue options for some of this stuff. i will also say that part of the blandness could come from me already vaguely knowing what's going to

its self-insert character who says absolutely nothing. their only voice lines seem to be in battle and what hurts me is i can FEEL a personality in those voice lines. it just... doesn't show in any other way. and yeah yeah yeah i know, self insert character, of course they don't say much. but

it ends in him beating up his landlord with his besties. it is absolutely not what i'd expect from a merchant character! same with, say, osvald. he's a scholar who starts off in jail. that makes for such a fascinating character.

i think the first hour or so is kind of bland. i know it's all setup for future events and is the whole call to action for the main character, but again, it just didn't grab me. part of that is probably a matter of me having seen the trailer and therefore knowing Exactly what was gonna happen

just finished playing through the octopath demo! it's fun :) it's not grabbing me like 2 did though.. which i guess is fair because 2 had partitio my friend partitio in it and he was made in a lab to appeal to me specifically
